Just a Friendly Reminder

Have you?? Please take the time to vote today if you are registered (and live in the US, obviously) - every vote matters. ;)

Happy November, everyone - it's very warm where I live right now.

And in unrelated news. Yesterday I had to go the Ortho doc for two shots in the back to help with the extraordinary pain I've been having. It's amazing how long the needles were! Ouch. Really gross. It was a fairly long painstaking process and some recovery time, but I think it's starting to work. I've got lots of pain, but some of it is gone and they said it takes up to two weeks or so to feel the full effect. I'm glad I went, though I was super nervous. I just hope to be able to do more now as the pain has taken quite a toll on me lately.

It's scoliosis related, the three rods in my back hold the main part of it in place, but this means the lower back and upper back have a LOT of wear and tear over the last 17 years and I have deteriated discs and bone spurs and pinched nerves. I haven't felt like doing much of anything lately and forget creative stuff. I'm so bummed. But now? Maybe I'll feel better.
Sorry to vent a little - just needed to talk about it and now I'll wish for the best. Maybe wish me luck?? ;) I'm so hoping to be able to paint and work again on new things for my shop and just for therapy, too. It feels good to make things.

I hope you start to get some relief. My husband had scoliosis as a kid, and still has a bad back to this day. I am ready to see more of your creative work :-)

Thanks you two - your kind wishes mean a lot. ;) I'm feeling better than I have in many months so it was worth it to finally do something about this. I still have a couple of dr. visits coming up so I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes okay.

Jessica - I'm sorry to hear your scoliosis is bad enough to wear a brace, but I'm also thrilled to hear it isn't as abrasive or restrictive as the one I wore as a kid. My brace rubbed my skin raw in several places, leaving permanant scars and it was so bulky and large that I had to wear really big baggy clothes to cover them and it stuck out in the back if I didn't sit ramrod straight. It was only too obvious and in the seventh grade it was really humiliating to wear. I had boys constantly asking to punch me in the stomach to test the brace and see if I'd feel it. It was definitely a character building experience. LOL The surgery was long and painful and took about six months for me to recover, but I was very glad to get rid of the brace by then.

If ever you need someone to talk to about treatments or living with scoiliosis day to day - feel free to comment here or email me personally at bookluv@gmail.com. ;) I certainly don't want to focus too much on personal health problems on this blog, but it is very nice to know that there are people kind enough to listen when I need to talk about this. Thanks for your comment and good luck!
